Academic Procrastination is a psychological state with bad feelings and a kind of delay behavior, which makes the students actively postpone executing learning tasks they should or intend to finish and thus leads to the results against the expected one. Not only does the Academic Procrastination give rise to bad learning results, but also the negative emotions accompanying the academic procrastination have a bad effect on the mental health of students. Therefore, this research has been trying to help the middle school students improve their academic procrastination, improve time management strategy time strategy and enhance their mental health on the basis of the previous questionnaires and surveying results.Based on the analysis and summarization of previous research, through the Aitken Procrastination Inventory and Adolescence Time Management Disposition Scale, this study survey832students to explore the status and relationship of academic procrastination and time management. According to the previous survey,6higher academic procrastination students were chosen as case interviewees. A real improvement to academic procrastination on the perspective of time management would not be achieved unless real the reason why they delay were known to us. The results are as follows:(1) In total, academic procrastination is prevalent among middle school students, most of them having moderate academic procrastination and few of them are high or low in degree; overall the middle school students behave better on time management disposition, a little higher than the moderate level, and high procrastination students significantly lower time management disposition than those low procrastination students.(2) Academic procrastination varies from boys to girls. Boys are usually prone to postpone executing learning tasks, have poor time management disposition than girls. Academic procrastination and time management disposition are different across grades. Grade correlated negatively with academic procrastination, while positively with time management disposition.(3) Academic procrastination negatively correlated with the time management disposition, and time management disposition is a significant predictor on academic procrastination.(4) The special case interview results on the academic procrastination and time management disposition shows us that students could not finish homework in the due time, just finish homework in a hurry just before the deadline or fail to finish are the concrete phenomenon among procrastinating students. There are two reasons for academic procrastination. The internal reasons include low self-control, low study abilities and poor time management strategy; The external reasons include the nature of the study tasks, the influence impact from environmental and the lack of time. The result of academic procrastination is the decreasing grades and bad mood. The strategy is to make up plans, allocate time reasonably, offer reinforcement rationally and so on. Given the external or internal reasons, it is hard to persist on. Their behavior on time management is to allocate time to finish the task; set out study plans. The effect of time management strategy would be invalid if they could not insist on it permanently.The education suggestions for middle school students are:(1) Attaches great importance to the critical period of the academic procrastination formation;(2) Show more focus on the phenomena of male students’academic procrastination and bad time management disposition;(3) Help middle school students set up the correct learning goals and promote the internal motivation on learning;(4) Improve the ability of middle school students’time management capability;(5) Guide the students to make rational attribution;(6) Cultivate a strong will to overcome procrastination;(7) Optimize middle school students’external learning environment and to form a good education atmosphere.
