Objectives: By understanding the status quo and influencing factors of middle school students' academic delay,the research aims to explore the impact of time management disposition on academic procrastination and the intermediary role of achievement motivation between time management disposition and academic procrastination,in order to reduce the level of secondary school students' academic procrastination and prevent the negative emotions caused by academic procrastination from adversely affecting the psychological growth of middle school students,and makes more scientific and feasible suggestions for the cultivation of good learning habits of middle school student.Methods:1.Random stratified sampling method was applied and 550 middle school students in Shangqiu and Xinyang were selected as research objects.Aitken Procrastination Questionnaire(revised edition for middle school students)(API),Adolescence Time Management Disposition Scale(ATMD),achievement motivation Scale(AMS)were used for conducing testing.51 invalid data were eliminated and 499 were valid data.Data were processed and analyzed by statistical methods such as descriptive statistics,independent sample t-test,Pearson product difference correlation analysis,linear regression,and mediation effect test.2.Qualitative interviews were applied to further analyze and verify the data results.Results:(1)There is a significant difference between middle school students' academic procrastination under the condition of whether they are class cadres.(2)Middle school students' time management disposition,time efficiency,and time monitoring sense have significant negative predictive impact on academic procrastination;In addition,middle school students' achievement motivation and the pursuit of success have noticeable negative predictive effect on academic procrastination,while avoiding failure has a remarkable positive power on academic procrastination.(3)The achievement motivation of middle school students plays a partial intermediary role between time management disposition and academic procrastination.(4)The results of the interview not only verify the results of the quantitative study,but also further enrich the influencing factors of academic procrastination.Conclusion: The better the time management disposition of middle school students is,the lower the level of academic procrastination will be;the higher the achievement motivation is,the lower the level of academic procrastination will be;The time management disposition of middle school students can affect academic procrastination by influencing the achievement motivation;Qualitative interview research results show that academic procrastination is not only affected by students' own factors but also influenced by schools,teachers,parents and peers.Therefore,in the education practice,students should be given more guidance and help from different aspects to effectively reduce the level of academic procrastination.
