During the period of the Republic of China, Comparative Education took its root in China and laid a solid foundation for its development afterwords. Zexuan Zhuang, Daozhi Chang, and Luzhai Zhong were the most famous scholars in that period who had written lots of books and papers on comparative education and made a great contribution to the research field..They focused on different states’ educational systems and wrote in different styles. They also paid more attention to the study materials which are novel, reliable and representative. Furthermore they attached importance to the backgrounds of foreign educational systems and provided references for education in China. Their studies pioneered the comparative education researches in China.With the literature review, comparative method and history approach, this thesis studies the researches and practices of those three scholars on Comparative Education, cognizing their main thoughts and activities objectively and the values of their studies for successors.This paper has five parts. The first part is an introduction, which describes the reasons for choosing this topic, as well as the domestic research status on this topic.The second,the third and the fourth parts study respectively the thoughts of Zexuan Zhuang, of Daozhi Chang and of Luzhai Zhong with the focuses on their personal lives, research contents, research methods, research purposes, etc. Then the fifth part makes a comparation of their researches and illustrates that their studies have the ideological origins with those in the West, and finally analyzes their contributions and deficiencies.
