Problem consciousness refers to the ability of thinking to raise questions. For students, it’s the preparation of mind which enables a student to think actively, research carefully, and pose questions about one aspect. With this mind, not only the efficiency of study in class can be improved, but also a student’s thinking gets developed. In addition, history subject’s characters need this consciousness. Nowadays, a high school history teacher should train students’problem consciousness in order to improve the teaching effect, students’creative thinking, ability of questioning, thinking, discovering, solving problems as well. However, problem consciousness of Chinese students is to some extent weak. Some of them lack it and they are not willing to even dare not raise questions. Teachers fully occupy the class which causes less and less communication between teachers and students. Therefore, students lose both their interest to study and chances to develop their thinking. The teaching effect is low as expected. According to this situation, the author of this paper will argue about how to educate the problem consciousness of students from the perspective of teachers. This thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter One defines the concept of "problem consciousness" and presents the research status in China. Chapter Two shows the importance of training such consciousness from aspects of students’mind development and exploratory teaching. Both from the side of teachers and students this chapter argues about problems at present in the progress of training. Also, the influences of training are discussed based on the traditional teaching ideas and teachers themselves. Chapter Three mainly indicates methods to solve those problems mentioned above. This chapter begins with the theoretical basis of training problem consciousness which refers to pedagogy, psychology and educational psychology. Then it turns to the teaching practice in class during which teachers design questions carefully, know techniques to question, inspire students’interest, change the traditional idea of teacher and student and so on. For teachers themselves, they should raise discipline level and enhance teaching quality to improve the problem consciousness. Chapter Four analyzes the methods to solve problems with the teaching practice of history of science. This last chapter first introduces the function of teaching history of science in high school aiming at training problem consciousness by making students realizing the importance of teaching history of science. When it helps develop students’scientific idea, the paper presents strategies in high school history teaching vividly through analysis of "Inventions and Discoveries in Ancient China" and "The Major Scientific and Technological Achievements since the Founding" these two lessons from People’s Publishing House.
