The textbooks have an important position of language teaching.The lack of unified teaching standards and the abusing use of teaching materials have become a big problem for the improvement of Chinese teaching in Thailand. The author of this essay selected the Experiencing Chinese>high school series textbooks (Thai edition) and <New practical Chinese textbook>(Thai edition) series that are commonly used in Thailand high school education system. Both these2series of textbooks are for junior level Thai speaking middle school students, aiming at cultivating students language skills and communication skills. The target students, corresponding level and teaching objectives are similar. It fits for a wide range of students. So both these2series of textbooks are representation and can be contrasted. According to the comparison, the author thinks that the Experiencing Chinese> series textbooks are comparatively easy to learn, lively to teach and suitable for schools in Thailand that set Chinese as a selective course. The other textbook series, however, fits well for schools that set Chinese as a compulsory course. The arrangements of grammar in this book are a good example for the other textbooks to learn. With the help of language acquisition teaching theory and assessment, comparing the texts, vocabularies, grammar points, culture training and exercise design between these two books, emphasizing on the specialty of each series, it is to discover the advantages and disadvantages of the said Chinese textbooks and to give reasonable suggestions.
