Argumentative essay writing is a requirement of Chinese teaching in senior high school, which is also a reflection of students’thinking ability. However, in the present educational situation, it often stand for scores of the college entranc examination. Students’thinking ability cannot be cultivated in most cases. There are many reasons for that, such as teachers, students, areas, textbooks, examination system and so on. But in the final analysis, that is because of utilitarianism. It is a kind of social factor which cannot be changed by people. Nonetheless, utilitarianism also can be used, which means teachers can try to cultivate students’ thinking ability while conceiving the idea of argumentative essays writing. There are mainly three sections in the process of conceiving the idea of argumentative essays writing. These sections include topic conception, writing structure, beginning and ending. Among them, the topic conception can mostly reflect students’thinking ability. It is said that conception goes first in eternal articles. Therefore this paper is mainly based on the present situation that thinking ability transforms into a mere formality when students write argumentative essay in Longchuan NO.1senior high school, trying to solve the problem that essay writing separates from thinking ability in senior high school from the perspective of the topic conception and striving hard to orient a clear direction that how to cultivate students’thinking ability when they write argumentative essay.
