The IS026000international social responsibility standard is formulated by aninternational organization. It is a model standard of well-established sociallyresponsible behaviors of organizations. Its biggest implications for the future wouldbe to extend businesses’ corporate social responsibility practices to all organizations,to carry out the core theme of social responsibility, to describe the goal of sustainabledevelopment, and to integrate social responsibility into organization strategies anddaily activities.Education serves as a kind of organized social activity that undertakes the socialresponsibility of fostering the development of successful, talented people. Because ofthe special nature of what a school can offer, it is the school systems that should havean important role in social responsibility. The ability to provide meaningful educationis dependent on the quality of school operations. In reality, schools face all kinds ofsocial conditions and their own organizational limits, administrators must weigh costsand benefits as well as deal with conflicting roles. Therefore, it is especially importantresearch what kind of social responsibilities should be undertaken by schools.It is an objective reality that weak schools exist in the Chinese educationalsystem. These weak schools are characterized by underqualified teachers, poormanagement of school, quality of students’ enrollment and so on. As one of thenumerous existent problems, weak schools make the fulfillment of socialresponsibilities hard to achieve. This is the difficulty that weak schools face, and itbecomes an unavoidable part of their future reform. Although the reform of weakschools has been considered the emphasis of china’s educational reform, what most ofits related research shows us is stagnant achievement at the theoretical level instead ofclear effects of successful implementation. The improvement of weak schools requiresus to set social responsibility standards of ISO26000and integrate them into theschool system. Theoretically, we also have to guide the performance of socialresponsibilities by school management, teachers and students. And the improvement of overall quality of weak schools will not only help solve the problem of unequaleducation development in China, but also narrow the gap of education level betweenschools. What is more, to ease the tension of selecting schools is a significant measurefor improving educational quality comprehensively.Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the application of social responsibilitystandards systems in weak schools and to think deeply about the difficulties that weface. This paper analyzes the feasibility of applying a social responsibility standardsystem to a middle school of Yunnan by applying the principle of ISO26000, byconducting field investigation, and by directly addressing the specific problems thatschools face. This paper explores the application of a social responsibility standardssystem, thereby making an effort to encourage the improvement of weak schools.
