Writing a successful composition is the common goal for most Chinese teachers and students. At the same time, it is an important criterion to measure Chinese students’ writing ability. Since composition teaching is a very important part in teaching Chinese, we must pay attention to it. Composition teaching can improve students’ abilities about expression and communication. Composition teaching can also affect students’ development on moral, wisdom, beauty and so on. It can improve the students’ comprehensive abilities. This article mainly analyzes the current existing problems in composition teaching. Some students feel are not interested in writing, some always use the same model, and some can not express their true feelings in their articles. The formation of the writing ability of junior middle school students is an important symbol of their literary attainments. Therefore a lot of educators do research on how to change the students’ writing mentality and narrow writing ideas and how to improve students’ low scores in the exam. For these problems, Mr. Xu Baogui has his unique opinions.Mr. Xu has 30 years’ teaching experience on Chinese teaching, and he is one of special-class Chinese teachers in Liaoning Province. Xu Baogui published more than 30 articles about the educational theory and problems in practice. He has achieved great success on composition teaching. He edited many books about composition teaching, which provides strong support for the majority of teachers in Chinese teaching. By analyzing the papers, books and classroom record about Mr. Xu, this study summarizes Xu Baogui’s characteristics in composition teaching. Mr. Xu Baogui deeply understands that the combination of reading and writing is the main way for junior high school students to form writing ability. Based on this understanding, Mr. Xu helps students to learn how to write various forms at the beginning, middle and the end, artful design and material selection through reading classic article. The real life is the source of writing. The basic requirement about the writing for junior middle school students is to have one’s real feelings from real life. Therefore the premise is to observe life and combined with the method of special training. In this way students’ comprehensive ability in writing can be qualitatively improved.
