Back in the day higher education in Russia was considered to be the best in the world. However, education went through hard times after the breakup of the Soviet Union.The economic crisis of early 90 s in XX century caused public confusion: system of government changed at once and economy collapsed. It influenced people greatly. With these changes the government ceased financial support of education, teachers’ salaries were extremely low, students lost traditional value system, and problems of “brain drain” and of higher education got worse.As a result, in XIX century Russia tries to adopt the best practices of developed countries in higher education, and strains after international cooperation. In sum, internationalization of higher education in Russia has been taken as a leading tendency.The Paper under discussion is aimed at description of the main ways of Russian Higher Education Internationalization, analysis of challenges faced by Russia in the process of Higher Education Internationalization and depicting of taken by Russian government retaliatory measures. In conclusion future tendencies of Russian Higher Education Internationalization are presented.
