The teaching of Contemporary Chinese Reading in junior high school is not only animportant part of the junior high school Chinese Teaching but also plays an elementary rolewhen students try to form their language ability. That is to say, effective teaching ofContemporary Chinese Reading can highly enhance students’ comprehensive literacy in termsof Chinese. However, it seems that the current teaching mode of Contemporary Reading istime-consuming with low efficiency. Nowadays, focusing more on teachers’ teaching butignoring students’ learning is still a “persistent ailment” in the teaching of ContemporaryChinese Reading. Therefore, with the guidance of the concept of “Teaching-less butLearning-more”, there are several advantages when the teaching practice research in terms ofContemporary Chinese Reading is conducted. It will facilitate teachers’ transformation ofteaching concept. For teachers, students’ gradual development of Chinese acquisition will bethe starting point as well as the foothold in their teaching. Teachers can select efficient teachingstrategies with least teaching time but best teaching benefits. Moreover, the validity in terms ofthe teaching of Contemporary Reading can also be enhanced. A win-win situation with respectto teaching and learning can be gained with teachers’ efficient teaching and students’involvement in learning.Based on the background of Chinese pedagogical reform, the author of this thesis hasrealized some disadvantages in current teaching of Contemporary Chinese Reading throughquestionnaires. In accordance with requirements for teaching of Contemporary ChineseReading in junior high school in Chinese Curriculum Standards, this thesis intends to exploreseveral issues in the teaching process of Contemporary Chinese Reading, namely what shouldteachers teach and how to teach, and what should students learn and how to learn. Embarkingfrom teaching rules, students’ psychological and cognitive rules, this thesis strives to realizeseveral goals. It tries to find out guiding strategies which will be helpful in students preview soas to develop their independent learning capability. It attempts to optimize teaching goals whichwill make the direction of teaching of Contemporary Chinese Reading clear. It aims to optimizethe teaching contents through the precise interpretation of texts, effective integration oftextbooks and selective teaching materials. The target of less but efficient teaching will beattained then. By means of setting proper situation, seizing core issues, encouraging students toquestion, and multiply teaching activities, such as making speech and prepare text-based drama,it seeks to optimize the teaching design so as to arouse students’ learning interests, enhancetheir involvement. The target of learning more and getting more involved will be realized then.Moreover, through the optimization of guiding strategies in the reading process, students will be guided to do in-class reading as well as extracurricular reading. The concept of “Teaching-lessbut Learning-more” will be extended to extracurricular activities. The teaching evaluation willalso be optimized in the teaching which will facilitate students’learning.This thesis pays attention to the combination of theories and practice, and more attention hasbeen paid to the discussion of the issue that which approach is efficient when the teaching ofContemporary Chinese Reading is conduced under the guidance of the concept of“Teaching-less but Learning-more”. This thesis is divided into four parts: the first part is theintroduction, which introduces the purpose of this article selected topic background, researchsignificance, main content, the research of innovative and intends to solve the key problems; inthe second part, the teaching practice with the concept of “Teaching-less but Learning-more” istheoretically introduced; the third part combines theories and practice, giving detailed accountof conducting strategies for the teaching of Contemporary Chinese Reading in junior highschool under the guidance of the concept of “Teaching-less but Learning-more” from sixaspects; the fourth part is the conclusion part, presenting conclusions and accomplishments interms of the practice research on the teaching of Contemporary Chinese Reading with theconcept of “Teaching-less but Learning-more”.Through above researches, this thesis attempts to explore proper strategies and methods inthe teaching of Contemporary Chinese Reading in junior high school based on the concept of“Teaching-less but Learning-more” so as to enhance the effect the teaching of ContemporaryChinese Reading. The great educator Ye Shengtao once said, the aim of teaching is for students’independent study; this thesis intends to advocate a unique teaching mode, that is, teachersteach less, teach meticulously and teach highly efficient; students learn more, learn delightfullyand learn highly efficient.The author of this thesis has conducted the action research method, experimental summarymethod, literature research method and comparative analysis method since three years ago.Despite tough problems and difficulties in the practice, but I eventually find a solutionstrategy. The practice research has finally gained efficiency from the comparison with that incomparative classes.
