Although the quality education is being widely implemented in our country today, more and more students are divided into the ranks of "poor students", the problem of "poor students" has become a universal phenomenon which is attracting considerable attention in the current field of schooling. It not only makes the school and teachers feel headache and helpless, but also makes the parents and students suffer the physical and mental torture. So it must cause our high attention. Many researchers and teachers on the front conduct the research mostly from the essentialism perspective, they try to explore the types, characteristics, behaviors, causes, transforming strategies of the group of "poor students" and grasp the objective laws which are hidden in the problem of "poor students". Because lacking the understanding of the complexity, the dynamic and the diversity to the generation of "poor students", these research results not only can not be applied in the practice of education and teaching, but also give rise to the false belief of this problem to some degree. This research is based on the perspective of social constructivist theory, taking a class in X middle school as a case study, trying to display the role and effect of the social system, school system, peer group, family, students themselves and other factors in the constructing process of "poor students" on a comprehensive level. During the research, the researcher stepped into the field of class, and gathered the materials through participant observation, interview and field notes. In order to let the outside world obtain more comprehensive, objective understanding of "poor students", this research shows the inner mental world of these students by means of the description and analysis of the cases of "poor students" especially. This research is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction, including the research origin, research significance, concept definition, literature reviews, research design and research process. The second part analyzes the role of the external system environment for the construction of the identity of "poor students" and the generalization of the concept of "poor students". Especially by reference to reveal the orientation of the identity of students in different periods to indicate that the construction of the concept of "poor students" is constructive and dynamic. The third part describes the views of teacher in regard to "poor students" and the constructing process which is operated (through the seat arrangement, classroom questioning way, teaching language, school norms, the system of rewards and penalties) by teachers in the teaching situation. The fourth part focuses on the details of the school life and the self-identity of "poor students", revealing the characteristics and problems in the self-construction of these students. Aiming at the problems in the constructing process of "poor students", we put forward an idea that we should reconsider our views about the vulnerable groups--"poor students" and keep our humanistic concern with them.
