As an activity which affects children’s physical and mental development exceedingly, Outdoor activities have been under attention of many early childhood educators at home and abroad. Making outdoor activities as one of the most distinctive activities in kindergarten, Japan is followed by many other countries, in which the development of preschool education stays first all over the world. In this paper, how does Japanese kindergartens carry out outdoor activities and characteristics of the activities are presented. China, which owns the similar culture to Japan, although points out “activity time of children everyday is no less than two hours” in “Guideline of 3-6 Years Old Children’s Study and Development”(2012), some kindergartens can’t meet the requirement for different kinds of reasons. So there are many deficiencies in carrying out outdoor activities. To understand the current situation of the development and explore the reason about the phenomenon above, outdoor activities of Japanese kindergarten are studied through literature methods in this paper, Some suggestions are proposed for the deficiencies in outdoor activities of Chinese kindergarten, so that to promote that more healthily and continuously.This paper is divided into fifth parts:The first part of the problem is presented in part. This section is the research background, research purpose and meaning for a brief overview.,research review, Put forward the feasibility of the study.The second part is the research method of part. This section is an overview of the research process of the related research contents, research methods.The third part is an overview. The importance of Japanese kindergarten outdoor activities and current study are presented here. In the classification of Japanese kindergarten outdoor activities, activities can be classified into daily activities and non daily activities, collective and free by situation, in-park and out-park by region, outdoor sports, outdoor games and outdoor collective education by content.In the fourth part, current status of Japanese Kindergarten outdoor activities is introduced and elaborated, through time, content, environment and facilities, mixed-age education, role of teachers and safety in outdoor activities.In the fifth part, enlightenment from Japanese kindergarten outdoor activities is presented. By the comparison of kindergarten outdoor activities between Japan and us, there are many deficiencies in our implementation. So reasons of Japanese kindergarten outdoor activities developing effectively is concluded from the following aspects: localization of education, cooperation between kindergarten and family, activity time, establishment of environment and material, role of teachers, independent development of children’s game, safety and so on. These reasons will be helpful for deficiencies in our kindergarten outdoor activities.
