The information technology, as an important support of social economy in the twenty-first Century, is playing a decisive role in the social development process. Information technology as a compulsory course in primary and secondary schools has been carried out for more than ten years. Though information technology curriculum standard in primary schools is much too broad, causing some problems in the process of the establishment of information technology curriculum, it has also expanded autonomy and flexibility of the course, which also presents a prospective picture nationwide. Based on this perspective, I took the subject of information technology in Benxi primary school as the research object, using the method of literature research, on-the-spot investigation, questionnaire and interview. In order to provide the adaptable strategy and valuable reference for the further growth of the information technology in Benxi’s primary schools, I have collected and analyzed the problems of the implementation of the IT course, the in-depth knowledge of current situation of IT education in BX primary schools, and the existing doubts in its development, through communicating with the school leaders and IT teachers.The thesis is divided into five parts: the first part is the overview, describing the background and significance of this thesis as well as the present situation of the information technology curriculum in China and abroad; the second part is to research the current development of information technology in Benxi elementary school, combined with the characteristics of information technology and Benxi’s education development, illustrating the designing ideas of the study in order to formulate the contents of the research and elaborating the theoretical basis of the thesis; the third part is the research and analysis of the present situation of information technology in Benxi primary schools, exhibiting the achievement and problems in information technology teaching in Benxi primary school, from the following 8 aspects: management of the organization, the equipment for teaching, course setting, the faculty, teaching materials, the present teaching situation of IT courses, information literacy status of pupils and evaluation of pupil’s study results; the fourth part is the countermeasures of development of IT course of Benxi’s primary schools: the first is to convert the ideas of educational administrators, teachers and parents to improve the position of information technology; the second is that the government should increase the financial support of the basic construction to enhance IT education; the third is to develop, generate and share the teaching resources; the forth is to improve the teacher’s basic quality and professional skills so as to build high quality IT teacher teams in primary schools; the fifth is to innovate classroom teaching mode to improve the students’ autonomous learning ability; the sixth is to improve the pupils’ information literacy comprehensively in the classroom teaching; the seventh is to establish systematic and scientific evaluation pattern of student’s learning style. The fifth part is about the introspection and summary of the thesis, and the conclusion of the shortcomings in the research, to guide the further study of information technology research and training work.
