With the development and the application of geographic science and geographic information technologies, the importance of basic education in geography is ineffable and has been a hot spot. In this context, how to efficiently achieve the goal of basic education in geography, is the research focus of the geographic education. Among the many teaching methods, the geographic situation approach has been more and more researched and tried, and made numerous fruits gradually. However, geography is to study the disciplines of geospatial space. For the high school students who have weak abilities of spatial thinking, explore and practice, the implementation of the geographical situation teaching still encounter many problems. As the carrier and core of the geographic situational approach the characteristics of novelty, comprehensiveness, rationality and suitability for the geography teaching situation have the direct bearing on the successful implementation of the teaching situation. This shows that a good design of geography teaching situation according to the characteristic of teaching content of geography education is critical. Geographic Information Service brings an opportunity to solve this problem, and its abundant geographic data service, efficient and convenient computing service, all-round geographic mapping service put new energy into the design of teaching situation for high school geography. This paper analyzed the current situation researches on the design of teaching situation for high school geography, the basic features and advantages of geographic information service, and then proposed the construction of a knowledge system of geography teaching situation, some designs of high school geography teaching situation based on Geographic Information Service. The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1) From the concept, constituent elements, classification structure, influencing factors and design principles of geographical teaching situation, a knowledge system of geography teaching situation is studied and built, that enriches and improves the study of geography teaching situation, and provides reference for the design of the relevant geographic teaching situation.(2) Based on the framework of Geographic Information Service, this paper analyzes the relationship between geography teaching situation and Geographic Information Service from the aspects of geographical data services, geographical computing services and map services. The study shows that there is a strong correlation between Geographic Information Service and geography teaching situation from content, function and form in physical geography, human geography and regional geography.(3) Taking the teaching of "fluvial geomorphology development" in natural geography, "the urban spatial structure" in human geography, "geography difference on regional development" in regional geography for examples, three typical cases of geography teaching situation are designed with the utilization of geographic data services, computing services and geographical map service.
