The Chinese Curriculum Standard points out that the reading teaching is a process of the dialogue between students, teachers and text. As an important method of literary criticism, with the developing of the times, "close reading" is endowed with new meaning. The "close reading" in the context of the course aims at the reading teaching, is the new thinking of the current Chinese classroom teaching. With the deepening of new curriculum reform, close reading is not only getting attention by scholars in universities, but also becoming a hot trend among the primary schools. Throughout the former research, the research of this field is still in the preliminary exploration stage. Therefore, the paper uses literature research, questionnaire method and interview method to study the current situation of the close reading in the third period of primary Chinese.The paper combines the request of the new Chinese Curriculum Standard and the former research to draw up the questionnaires about the current situation of the close reading in the senior class of the primary schools. The paper regards the Chinese teachers of senior class and the teachers who have a certain understanding of close reading as respondents meanwhile finds some problems in the reading teaching through the interview method. The problems of the current situation of the close reading are the huge contrast between the teachers and students, the teachers don’t prepare lessons well, the teachers don’t know the details well and don’t pay much attention on reading and the evaluation methods are too easy. The paper aims at these problems and analyzes the reasons from multiple perspectives. At last put forwards some strategies and advices such as increasing awareness of close reading; enhancing the teachers’ability to prepare the new lessons; using a combination of teaching methods of the close reading; strengthening the guidance of reading and establishing some different kinds of evaluation methods. In the hope of providing a certain reference for the close reading of first-line teachers of elementary school and making the close reading teaching more normative and mature, obtaining good teaching effect.
