This study did research to mathematical application consciousness of junior middle school students in ethnic areas, aimed to reveal the level and influence factors of mathematical application consciousness of junior middle school students in ethnic areas, and based on the results, gave the appropriate advice to improve the level of application consciousness. Research took 805 ninth grade students which respectively come from Sichuan Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Inner Mongolia Xilin Gol League and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Wuzhong as research objects. Then took test to them in the uniform. Finally based on the test results and the test case to answer, combined with questionnaires and interviews, using statistical analysis method, literature analysis method, comparative analysis method, sample analysis method, the factors that affecting mathematical application consciousness of junior middle school students in ethnic areas can be summed up. This thesis mainly includes the following aspects:Firstly, Research has analyzed the content of the test volume, which could reflect the subjects’application consciousness called application part in study; In additionally apart from the application part of the test volume, the study called non-application part. Using the statistical analysis of the result of the two parts, both parts of the scoring rate can be draw preliminarily.Secondly, Make an analysis to the test subjects in test volume. The typical errors that occur during the test can be conducted and summarized.Thirdly, According to the research results, do analysis of the influence factors of the subjects’mathematical application consciousness capability. And put forward a number of recommendations which developing students’application consciousness.The results show that:junior middle school students of ethnic area’ mathematical application consciousness is quite weak. Typical error appears in the application part during the process of test as follows:First, the problem of understanding in the reality of the scene is poor; Second, the mathematical expression is not standardized, symbols is not accurate enough; Third, the mathematics foundation isn’t solid enough which lead to wrong solution; Fourth, lacking of the awareness of exploration deeply in specific application question.According to the results of analysis and test volume analysis, The factors that affect the mathematical application consciousness can be concludes as following four points:First, language is the primary factor affect mathematical application consciousness of junior school students in ethnic areas; Second, the mathematical foundation is not solid which restrict mathematical application consciousness of junior school students in ethnic areas seriously; Third, the study habits of junior middle school students in ethnic areas have a significant effect on mathematical application consciousness; Fourth, mathematical application consciousness is affected by the ability to initiative exploration in ethnic areas.In this thesis, to frost mathematical application awareness of junior middle school students in ethnic areas, recommendations are given in textbooks, teaching and teacher by following three aspects:materials for a realistic scenario ethnic areas, bilingual teaching should pay attention to the language specification; teaching process should focus on students’ learning habits and foundation, carry out inquiry teaching actively; teachers should establish a correct concept of teaching, and should have a certain application consciousness of mathematics.
