A Comparative Study Of Academic Management Organizations

Academic management organization which depended on experts and scholars were the main carrier of the university academic management activities,is an important part of the internal governance structure,the level of academic management organization construction and development will directly affect the level of University. Therefore,the administrative departments of education advocated to improve the academic management system whose core is the academic committee. However,due to the unsound rules and regulations,the interference of administrative power and its construction remains to be improved and other factors,there still are many problems exist in the further development of Academic Committee. With the promulgated of “the rules of Academic Committee of colleges and universities”,Mainland academic management system is bound to usher in a major change. Based on this,it has important theoretical and practical significance to carry on the thorough research to the university academic management organization.Hong Kong,Known as the "Oriental Pearl" is an international metropolis. Hong Kong higher education was highly developed,Hong Kong only has eight public Universities,including University of Hong Kong,Hong Kong University Science & Technology and Chinese University of Hong Kong,both are the world-class universities. In Hong Kong,universities generally set up Senate as the highest academic institution,the Senate is the main institution to carry out the University Academic Management. Mainland China and Chinese Hong Kong have the same root and source,the successful experience of Chinese Hong Kong higher education in university management especially academic management has a strong reference.This paper consists of five chapters: the first chapter is the introduction,mainly expounds the research background,research significance,related concepts,theoretical basis,literature review,research methods and innovations. The second chapter through extensive data collection,summarize a brief introduction to the origin and development of the Chinese Hong Kong and Mainland University Academic Management organization. Chapter three takes Shanghai SF University and the Hong Kong University of ZW as a case,makes a comparative study of the university academic management organization system in mainland China and Chinese Hong Kong. Comparative studies mainly focus on academic management organization orientation,authority, organization,personnel and the rules of procedure. The fourth chapter is about problem exist in mainland academic management organizations and Improvements. This chapter is the key chapters of this paper,contains three sections:the problems exist in mainland Colleges and universities academic management organization which core is academic committee,place for reference of Chinese Hong Kong Colleges and universities Academic Management Organization which core is Senate and suggestions to improve mainland Colleges and universities academic management organization.The last chapter is conclusion and prospect,summarizes the research conclusion and the idea of the next research direction.
