A Study On The Disciplinary Construction Of Private Colleges

Since our open-door policy, private colleges in our country have obtained break-through developments, mainly performing in the increasing number of private colleges, the constantly expanding scale and the continuous improving level of school running. Especially in recent years, with the rapid development of social economy and modernization, the progress of the popularization in our higher education has been accordingly accelerated. The development of private colleges has strengthened the national and local education and relieved the pressure of higher education in a way.The leaders of private colleges pay more and more attention to the functions of the discipline construction and these colleges have made some certain progresses. Taking the private college of Shandong Province as an example, the level of the discipline construction has improved significantly under the support of government and their own developing conditions, which mainly show that the base conditions have improved, the scientific researches have increased, the staff’s level has improved in overall aspects and so on.But in the process of constructing the discipline, private colleges are facing many problems, which seriously affect advancing the school-running level of the private colleges. This article mainly select the discipline orientation, teachers, personnel training, scientific research,the base construction and the certain private college of Shandong province as an example to illustrate the existing problems in the discipline construction of private colleges. For example, in the construction of discipline direction, some private colleges don’t have a specific development orientation and the specific quantity and they can’t adjust the specific development goals in time, so it is difficult to form their own characteristic disciplines; in the aspect of teaching staff construction, the liquidity of teachers is obvious and they lack some high-level academic discipline leaders, so it is hard for these colleges to form a perfect discipline echelon with a reasonable structure and personnel composition; as to the personnel cultivation, the target is not very clear and the training process is not very logical; in terms of the base construction, the basic condition is relatively weak; in scientific research, both the quality and the level of scientific products remain to be improved and the achievements can’t be transformed to the high-quality teaching resources which can apply to the teaching. The private college of Shandong Province has some problems in the teaching staff construction, scientific researches, etc.This paper lists some methods to solve these problems. For example, in the discipline direction, private colleges should choose a specific orientation to be mainly constructed as a perfect discipline; in the teachers troop, they have to elect one or two high-level discipline leaders and form a discipline echelon with a sound structure; in personnel cultivation, they should set a clear training objective and constantly regulate the educating process; about the base construction, they should put more money in equipment purchase and continually boost the technology and management standard of laboratory personnel; for scientific research, they must get some national and provincial scientific research projects and improve the quantity, quality and efficiency of their scientific research achievements. In recent years, the private college of Shandong Province has formulated the "11th five-year plan" and the "twelfth five-year plan “of the discipline construction, which has obtained lots of achievements,such as constructing some characteristic disciplines, specialties and establishing the advanced test centers, etc.
