The curriculum criterion is changing with the development of the school education, "one criterion, multiple textbooks" is now widely accepted. Shanghai H edition Chinese language textbook compiled especially for the characteristics of the junior high school Chinese language teaching in the advanced coastal area by East China Normal University is the new type of the textbook according to the national curriculum criterion. It occupies very important position because it's special compiling principle and system. My thesis attempts to do the study on the whole, trying to find its characteristics, doing a summary from the aspects of the theory and practice, so that it can help the teachers to grasp and understand it better. At the meantime, offering my own suggestion on the construction of the future language teaching materials.My thesis consists five parts. The first two parts try to do an analysis about the junior high school Chinese language textbooks, its background, its principle of compilation and its content. This series of textbook compiled respectively in the form of "reading" and "writing", with due consideration of "listening" and "speaking", amalgamating the audio-video materials of the after-class reading and the real life experience into the texts. The authors try to pursuit the goal of "improving the quality in the learning of Chinese language by training the reading ability " and always follow the principle. The text deals subtly with "reading and writing" in proper sequence with clear teaching aims, it is very instructive and operative to the teaching and learning.The third and fourth parts comment on the compiling system and key characteristics. The textbook tries to be novel in the selection of the articles which tightly close to the teaching aim of each unit. Compared with other textbooks, its teaching aim is simpler and clearer and more easily used for teaching. They followthe compiling principles to pursuit the flexibility and practicality of the grammars not the strict system of it. Of course, deficiency also exists in the textbook materials of this edition. The illustrations in the books can not completely match the content, some even have quite visible mistakes; the arrangement of the grammars is not coherent. In addition, the editors don't take much consideration of the quality of the teachers who are the users of the textbooks, so that the materials can not be made full use of.The last part presents the readers the evaluation of the textbook on the base of thorough analysis. It tries to show that evaluation should not only be depended on the external activities such as the result of the pupils' entrance examination, but establish the internal evaluation system to test the effect of teaching.
