With the 8th curriculum reform of elementary education and the IT curriculum standard of high school which has been issued in the year of 2003, IT teaching is encountered the unprecedented impaction, and needs downright transitions from teaching goal, content to method etc. Task Based Learning established on constructivism has applied extensively among the IT teaching in China, its effective and reasonable application will be helpful to teachers to meet the present transform of IT teaching.Though Task Based Learning has gotten extensive research and practice, the lack of theories has caused many negative influences, which embody mainly in the misunderstanding of "Task Based Learning". This paper have discussed Task Based Learning's concept and purpose in the viewpoints of philosophy and motivation theory, put forward two kinds of "task", 8 principles of designing task, two kinds of teaching process, and offered some teaching cases for reference.
