This paper systematically elaborates the concept of "Description of Lesson Arrangement" (DLA), essential elements, characteristics, purposes, significance and functions of DLA, types and contents and evaluation of DLA.Description of Lesson Arrangement is a process, in which a teacher analyses a certain part of the teaching materials, makes his teaching arrangement and theoretical gist, and then narrates to conferees orally.A teacher has to take the educational teaching theories as the leading and prepare lessons carefully. The statement should include the course goals, the teaching arrangement, difficult points and important points, and the evaluation of the teaching effectiveness and qualities of the teaching process etc. so as to introspect, study and discuss the further improvement of the teaching design.The three essential elements of DLA are the narrator, the hearers and the teaching materials.Characteristics of DLA are: easy to operate; theories and fulfillment to be combined together; and modifications to be reused. It can enrich and develop teaching theories, accelerate teaching research activities and promote the exaltation of teachers' operation level. This is the main function of DLA.DLA can be departed into four basic types: disquisitive DLA, demonstrative DLA, evaluation DLA, and back-check DLA.The contents of DLA include description of the teaching materials, of the teaching goals, of the teaching approaches and learning strategies, and of the teaching process.The evaluation of DLA is used to analyses the relevant information from investigation of DLA, to judge the effectiveness and result, and to control DLA activity, to obtain the best result. The evaluation of DLA has the function of directing, encouraging and feedback. The evaluation principles are betimes, objectivity, participating, and school-based. The contents of evaluation, generally speaking, include: the evaluation of narrator's comprehending and mastering the teaching materials, ofcarrying out the teaching goals, and of the choice of the teaching method.Evaluation can be done by oneself, by confreres, by the experts, and by the appraisers.This paper goes deep in to discuss the function of geography DLA raising the qualities of the geography teacher. This text also combines how to develop the geography teachers, qualities through geography DLA: furthering self-development, renewing the knowledge; Delving into education theories, controlling the modern education techniques; establishing the idea of life long study, attending further study actively; and actively participating the geography teaching research.
