Higher vocational education is an important part of higher education, different from general higher education and secondary vocational education. It is a kind of vocational education of high level. With higher education in China entering into the popularization of higher education, higher vocational education also gains great growth, occupying the half of higher education in China currently. However, while higher vocational education is developing rapidly, the problem that higher vocational education teachers can't adapt to the needs of higher vocational colleges occurs which lays great restraints on the development quality of higher vocational education. Therefore, to study the problems of the teachers, especially the professional development problems of them, is of great significance to the long-term development of higher vocational education.The paper, taking a private higher vocational college as the research case, using questionnaire and interview as the main research methods, makes a deep investigation in the conditions of teachers and teachers' professional development of the college, from which writer sums up the main achievements and main problems of teachers' professional development, and analyses the causes of the problems. Writer also finds out the status that teachers are deficient in practical operation abilities is the big obstacle to teachers' professional development by reorganizing the problems. According to this and combining the specialty of higher vocational education, the paper puts up with the professional development aim of internal professional structure of capability-based higher vocational education teacher in theory, namely, the professional development of higher vocational education teacher should take teacher's professional development consciousness as the impetus and their ability development as the leading factor to guide the development of their knowledge and beliefs in education. Meanwhile, the paper also puts forward some concrete suggestions to promote the professional development of higher vocational education teachers in practice.
