The purpose of this study is to find out the status of self-consciousness and the relationship with parental rearing patterns of the farmer workers' junior high school students. In this paper, the Children's Self-awareness Scale (Piers-Harris) was adopted to measure the status of self-consciousness. The Measurement of Parental Rearing Patterns Scale (EMBU),was adopted to measure the parental rearing patterns .273 farmer-worker children and 456 common children took part in the survey. Based on the analysis, the author has come to the following conclusion:1. The situation of self-consciousness of the farmer-worker children is very optimistic. 55.8% of farmer-worker students' self-consciousness is not the normal range (19.6% of the high and low of 36.2%), only the normal range of 44.2 per cent.2. The fanner-worker children' self-consciousness was remarkably affected by gender. grade, also by different schools and urban & rural areas. Female' score and male' score existed Significant difference. Among three grades, the students of junior 2 have lower score than the students of other grades. Farmer-worker children in different schools have different scores. The scores between children in the farmer workers' school and children in common school existed significant difference. On general level, children in the farmer workers' school got lower scores than children in common school. Farmer-worker children' self-consciousness level was different between urban and rural areas. Farmer-worker children' self-consciousness level was lower than children' in urban and rural areas, and it existed significant difference.3. The farmer-worker children' self-consciousness was remarkably affected by home seniority among brothers and sisters. The only child got higher scores than non-only child but the teamwork factor. Generally speaking, among non-only children, the youngest child' self-consciousness level is higher than the middle child and the eldest child.4. Farmer-worker children' self-consciousness was different because of different family factors. Farmer-worker children' self-consciousness was different because of parent education. The survey indicates, the lower parents education, the lower the level of children' self-consciousness. If father' culture is the college and mother' culture is the undergraduate, children have the highest level of self-awareness. Under the conditions of intimate relations between parents and family harmony, farmer-worker children' self-consciousness level was high. On the contrary, children' self-consciousness level was low. And, it existed significant difference.8,Generally , parental rearing patterns and junior high school students' self-consciousness has a significant correlation. Farmer-worker children' self-consciousness scores was significantly correlated with 8 factors of EMBU.5,Parental rearing patterns and each factor of self-consciousness has a significant correlation . Among three factors of self-consciousness Scale, such as behavior. anxiety and happiness &meet, farmer-worker children' self-consciousness has a significant positive correlation with EMBU' two factors—emotional warmth and understanding. And farmer-worker children' self-consciousness has a significant passive correlation with EMBU' three factors—punishment .refuse .excessive protection. excessive interference.
