critical period of the self-identity development of the individuals.With the popularization of the internet,the problems of the adolescent’s using the internet,especially the problems of internet addiction are becoming even more serious.Parental rearing patterns is an important factor which affects the growth of the adolescents.This paper investigates and discusses the relationship among internet addiction of the junior high school students,parental rearing patterns and self-identity,so as to explore the possible intermediary effect of self-identity in the parental rearing patterns and internet addiction of the junior high school students,which is helpful for the deeper understanding of the mechanism of the internet addiction,thus helping the parents to establish the correct education idea and adopt appropriate education method,guiding the junior high school students to develop in the right direction of the self-identity and reducing the possibility of internet addiction.In this research,the students in three junior high schools in Haikou City are investigated as the respondents.It discusses the relationship among internet addiction of the junior high school students,parental rearing patterns and self-identity by questionnaires.The main results are as follows:Internet addiction of the junior high school students: the normal internet users and the users who tend to develop internet addiction constitute the majority of junior high school students.The percentage of uers addicted to the Internet among junior high school students is 3.45%,in which the percentage of male addicted uers(2.31%)is lower than that of the female(4.57%).However,the average score of the male internet addiction is more than that of the female.The scores of the junior students are obviously higher than of the freshmen.The scores of the only child and non-only child have no significant difference.Parental rearing patterns of the junior high school students: obvious differences can be seen in the over-protection(father/mother)of the parental rearing patterns for the junior high school students in different genders,with male accounting for a higher average score.As to the emotional warmth(father/mother)and negative parenting styles(father/mother),the difference is not significant.Parental rearing patterns for the only child and non-only child has no significant difference.Self-identity development of the junior high school students: middle school students are in a position of identity distribution.Among these students,the number of D-M are on the top accounting for 38.75.Some junior high school students in Haikou are experiencing the intermediate crisis and also conducting self-devotion positively.The present commitment of the male and female junior high school students have no obvious difference.As to the past crisis dimension and the future readiness of commitment,the difference is great,with the female students obtaining a higher score.The only child and not-only child has no significant difference in the present commitment and future readiness of commitment in the self-identity development while they have obvious difference in the past crisis dimension,with a higher score for the non-only child.The relationship between the internet addiction of the junior high school students and parental rearing patterns: over-protection(father/mother)and negative parenting styles(father/mother)have remarkably positive correlation with internet addiction.Emotional warmth(father/mother)has significant negative correlation with the internet addiction.The dimensions of negative parenting styles(mother)and over-protection(father)can obviously predict the internet addiction score of the junior high school students positively while emotional warmth(mother)can obviously predict the internet addiction score of the junior high school students negatively.The explanation rate of the three to the internet addiction is 12.6%.The relationship between the internet addiction of the junior high school students and the self-identity: as to the two dimensions of the present commitment and future readiness of commitment,the normal internet user group has an obviously higher score than the internet addiction group.Both present commitment and future readiness of commitment can obviously predict the internet addiction score of the junior high school students negatively.The explanation rate of the two to the internet addiction is 13.8%.The relationship between parental rearing patterns of the junior high school students and self-identity: emotional warmth(father)and emotional warmth(mother)can obviously predict the present commitment in the self-identity for the junior high school students.The explanation rate of the two to the present commitment is 11.9%.Emotional warmth(mother)can positively predict the future readiness of commitment while negative parenting styles(father)can negatively predict the future readiness of commitment.The explanation rate of the two to the future readiness of commitment is 15.2%.The self-identity of the junior high school students play a partial mediation
