Due to the fact that the efficiency of in-class lecturing of Chinese language and literature not only has a direct influence upon its teaching standard, but is as well associated with the implementation of education for all-around development and the reduction of students' workload, the improvement of the efficiency of in-class lecturing is among the many key issues facing us middle school Chinese teachers. Over time, we have accumulated a great deal of experience and a good many teaching mehods in the very process of our teaching work, thus enabling a considerable improvement in the efficiency of in-class lecturing. However, set in the background of curriculum reform, the problem of low efficiency of in-class lecturing still has not been totally undone. In this article, I shall make several suggestions on the introduction of a useful set of teaching methods, which I hope will be of benefit to the improvement of the efficiency of in-class lecturing and the development of our students. This set of methods not only advocates the use of proper teaching strategies and more student involvement in building up their their own systems of knowledge and in discovering and enjoying their own ways of learning, but also promotes the ideas of a harmonious relationship between teachers and students and of more self-confidence within our students, which may be enlightening and instructive to the presently developing Chinese teaching. Based on the theory of "effective teaching", this article shall appraise the current situation of Chinese teaching, establish a model of a highly-efficient classroom and find an approach to improving the in-class lecturing of Chinese lessons. This kind of lecturing will be an ideal way of lecturing wherein students learn the most with the least amount of effort and teachers are best rewarded with their students' excellent performance without a waste of time and energy. It will ensure the implementation of the new course standards in every cornerof our teaching work, thus accomplishing expected goals.
