Along with the developing of the market economy and increasing demand for labour , more and more people left the villages to join the ranks of workers, the majority of who is in the period of duration. They entered the city from the relative traditional rural areas, the work they did, the environment they lived in ,the people they dealled with as well as the social relations were very different form the past. In this situation, whether their thoughts were changed,and whether they had adjusted their behaviors to suit the environments, acceptted the modernized values and the behavior patterns,changed from the earlier,more and male preference traditional fertility patterns to the later, fewer, no gender preferences one, these are the problem which this article attempt to solve.In the basis of relevant literature review and empirical researches, the thesis analyzes birth anticipation situation after the floating rural population had their urban living and working experience from the social and economic perspective.The empirical researches were done in Yizhou ,Guangxi and taked the floating rural population as research subjects.It adopted two methods:questionnaire investigation and non-structucted interview. Massive valuable first-hand information were gained through these surveys.The basic hypotheses were validated by analyzing these materials.The thesis also got the following conclusions: the floating rural population's urban working and living experience were postponed their timing of birth to a great extent; the present of the one child per married couple tendency in the birth quantity, although the percentage was not high ; a small part f people's male preference was greatly weaken,leading to no gender preference or even female preference.But in general more than half of the people holded a male preferences, especially when they decided to give birth to only one child. Because of floating rural population's limited condition, more than half of the investigated subjects were willing to give birth two children with no gender preference,the male preference were hardly sensed.And quantity–gender—substitution was emerged.
