Study Of The Research Of Undergraduate Admission Standards

This thesis firstly reviews the transformation of the admission systems and the admission criterion of higher education. The national college entrance examination has been the main recruitment mode since 1977. In addition, there also exists specialized students recruitment,recommended students recruitment. The admission criterion of every recruitment mode is different for different recruitment objects and cultivating objectives. Then the thesis introduces the admission criterion of the research universities and analyzes the strongpoints and the shortcomings of the admission criterion. In the fourth chapter, the thesis introduces the admission criterion of Harvard University,Oxford University and the National University of Singapore. Then the thesis concludes the common characteristics of the admission criterions of the three research universities. In 2006, Fudan University and Shanghai Jiao-tong University carried out independent recruitment, which arouse broad attention. So in the fifth chapter, the thesis introduces independent recruitment of Fudan University in 2006, including its admission criterion. In addition, the thesis compares the students entering Fudan University by College Entrance Examination with the ones entering Fudan University by independent recruitment. A study has been done about the students' learning, social activities and scientific innovations. The result proves that the independent recruitment is feasible.Based on study above, the thesis makes a conclusion the admission criterion of research university has been multiple, at the same time, there is some shortcoming, such as lacking regular examine, excessively attaching importance to score, the criterion to be more unitary and so on. Then the author gives the corresponding suggestion.
