China is a multi-ethnic developing country. Minority education not only relates to the enjoyment of individual rights and the heritage of national culture, but also relates to the economic and social development in ethnic minority areas. Meanwhile, minority education has close relationship with the harmonious multi-ethnic coexistence and the smooth transformation of society as a whole, while basic education is the cornerstone of all other education. Tibet is located in China's southwest border, lies in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is very important in strategic position. For example it is the natural barrier of southwest and northwest of China, is the gateway to South Asia, and also is safeguard to maintain national unity and territorial security. Therefore, the study on basic education of Tibet is of great significance.The paper bases on the first-hand information in the way of field investigation, quotes French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu's cultural reproduction education theory and sociological research methods of quantitative and qualitative to conduct research basic education in pastoral areas of Tibet and analyzes several serious problems that still exist behind the "Three Guarantees" and a series of preferential policies in support of basic education in Tibet, for example, several students are still weary of studying, hidden out of school and so on. In this regard, I quote the concept of Bourdieu's "cultural capital" to study the situation of cultural capital of the family in pastoral areas of Tibet's in-depth, but also the phenomena of cultural reproduction that exists in the minority education policy are also discussed.This paper comprises seven chapters:the first chapter reviews the cultural reproduction theory and Tibet-related research on basic education; basic education from the liberation of Tibet to the contemporary state of development is summed up and introduced in the second chapter; the third chapter presents and analyzes the current situation and dilemma of basic education in survey point Nagqu; chapter IV, V and VI are the focus of the whole text, the cultural capital of the Tibetan pastoral family that decides children success or not in studies is analyzed, while the cultural tendencies phenomenon that exists in the school curriculum and the teaching language of minority education policy is researched in depth; the last chapter summarizes and discusses root cause of the problem of basic education in the pastoral areas of Tibet.
