Over the years, the major characteristic of our urban traffic is the mixed driving between vehicle and the non-motor vehicle. The vehicle-bicycle collision accidents are also one of the main forms for traffic accidents on urban road. Therefore, such research has been a growing concern. Currently, reproducing the accident by computer simulation technology, because of its advantages of low cost, high accuracy, objectivity, and abundant content, has become one of primary means of research in accident reproduction. The whole process of an accident is accurately reproduced by a computer, which can solve some difficult problems in quickly dealing with the accident, and provide an objective scientific basis for vehicle safety design, accident identification, injury biomechanics research and so on.This arcticle aims to research the method of reproducing the vehicle-bicycle collision accidents through computer simulation, the current situation home and abroad has been analysed, the actual characteristics and influence factor of such accidents are concluded. Then, models based on a real accident are built by using PC-Crash software and such research can be conducted.According to the accident information, three-dimensional simulation models of the collision are established, and the collision process is reappered from various angles. Then, this article analyzes the parameters which affected the simulation results greatly and identified the key parameters as well. Besides, the feasibility of the models built above is proved by the the real accident data. Furthermore, researches on the dynamics response to the rider and his injury based on multi-body dynamics and biomechanics are conducted. Finally, the good matches of the simulation results and the actual damage in the accident further verify the feasibility of the reproduction means.In view of the complexity of the vehicle-bicycle collision accident, with the help of the above computer simulation models, this article researches a variety of factors influencing the collision results, and parameters (different collision speeds, contact positions, types of automobile, front structures and so on) are made comparison. This article also analyses the rider's collision process and injury characteristics, the changing laws of related technical parameters are found. The analysis of parameters shows that the speed is the key factor influencing the severity of injury. As the vehicle speed is increasing, the collision speed of cyclist's head, and peak of its acceleration both shows a rising trend. Simulation results also shows that when the speed is more than 40km/h, the HIC of rider's head beyond the range of security. In addition, the front structures of vehicle also play a great part in the cyclist's safety. These factors should be considered when vehicles are designed.This article provides a reference for researching means of vehicle-bicycle collision accident reproduction and a basis for laying down road safety regulations for vulnerable groups. It also has some referencing value for the traffic injury mechanism.
