Since the reform and opening up, foreign publicity translation has become more and more vital for China to communicate with the others. I have done some foreign publicity translation. My translation has no syntax or grammatical errors, but it can not be understood by the foreigners or achieve the desired effect. After reading the reference translation version, I find out that the other translator abandons word-to-word translation and makes some change to the original text. Apparently, to achieve the desired affect, the translator's subjectivity can never be ignored. To prove that, I have adopted two cases, Foreign Aids and Shanghai Metro Lines Expanding to 400 Kilometers.
