Chinese character's teaching is an important part of Chinese as foreign language teaching. Though in recent years, there's progressive development in study and research of Chinese character's teaching for the basic, but being ignored in the intermediate stage. A few teachers still do not realize the importance of Chinese character's teaching for the intermediate stage. That's the reason why in most of the teaching materials Chinese character's exercise or content were almost no longer appear, and when students study at the intermediate level, they also begin to ignored the importance of Chinese characters. Therefore, it is necessary to study and analyze intermediate Chinese character's teaching problems and effective teaching method.This paper discusses the characteristics of Chinese characters and the importance of teaching Chinese characters. Chinese characters are ideographic'character, both writing and reading skills are based on Chinese characters. Writing ability will improve the students, the logic will affect the speaking ability; Good Chinese characters foundation can improve reading ability and the increasing amount of reading. The author herself which is a Korean foreign student has profound understanding for this. Secondly, by using questionnaires, the paper identifies students'problems when learning Chinese character. The author design the questionnaires for two different object which are, "Foreign Chinese cultural circle students" and "Foreign non-chinese cultural circle students", "Chinese cultural circle" refers to South Korea and Japan, "non-Chinese cultural circle " refers to Russia, Germany, Hungary and 12 other countries'students. The author separated these two groups and made data statistics by using comparative analysis method analyze students' cause of error. After that, the author analyzes the intermediate stage problems in teaching Chinese characters from three points of view, which are: teaching materials, teachers, and students. The authors studied the character of the existing teaching materials and its problems and summarized it; attend the intermediate stage of Chinese language courses for foreign student class, understanding and analyze the current situation in teaching Chinese language especially Chinese characters; randomly selected few students for oral interview and understanding their present situation.The author using materials research methods, questioner, classroom observation and interview method for the research. Then, based on the characteristics of Chinese characters integrated the research results in a series of Chinese teaching strategies and ideas, including a few examples taken from the questioners.The authors hope this paper can help the teachers and foreign students in teaching and learning Chinese.
