Of Japanese Movie Chinese Dubbing Translation Information Lines

The introduction of Japanese films to China plays an important role in Sino-Japanese culture exchanges. Subtitles and dubbing are the two ways people usually adopt when it comes to translation. Countries have their own favored choices when putting foreign released films to the screen, and China, in general, chooses the voice dubbed translation.Film dubbed translation differs from other forms of interpretations: the lines not only achieve the consistency with the audio and video, but also the consistency of length and lip movement is checked between the translated and original scripts. There are also more to be concerned: the Chinese audiences'comprehension under different cultures and languages, and the proper use of languages etc. That's to say, the film dubbed translation takes place under various constraints. Therefore, the translation may be unfaithful to the original ones. My recent survey has found many additional lines add new information in the dubbed version.In this thesis, several released Japanese films in China are taken as the research subjects: Manhunt, A Distant Cry from Spring, Love Letter and Shinobi. And I analyze the new added information from Japanese film to the Chinese translated dubbed version.This thesis constitutes of five chapters.Chapter One discusses the literature review and the deficiencies, and then introduces the research purpose, subjects, and approaches.Chapter Two introduces the two methods of film translation, the features and limitations of the dubbed translations. discusses the relevant theories in four aspects: respectively the logic of Japanese Language, Japanese psychological language, Nida's translation theory and the interpretive school of translation theory.Chapter Three collects the lines from the former four movies, and divides the lines into nine categories according to the various functions of added translated information. What's more, there are more examples to be analyzed on the basis of theories in Chapter Two.The final part is the conclusion and possible future research.
