With the economic and social development in China, the expanding urbanization and the rising demand of land, the phenomenon that the land of farmers nationwide is taken over for other use has been growing all along. In this paper, the author takes for instance Zhongyang County of Shanxi Province and makes a research on the social security of the local farmers who have lost their land.We hope to provide reference for improving the system of social security and China's industrialization and urbanization for the long-term development in our country. ZhongYang county is Located in central relatively concentrated in Shanxi Province. Its population, coal resources are abundant, and rapid expansion of coal enteiprise especially coal washery, leads to occupy the farmers' and especially hard-hit. So many rural farmland and life by enterprise, government expropriated land for construction land into production. Many farmers have lost their land handed down from their forefathers and it seems that their life tends to slide down to a worse situation. After they lose their land, the farmers in Zhongyang are usually confronted with two choices, one of which is that the farmers may take advantage of their personal influence or connections to rent houses to the factories, start a business or to work in the plant that has occupied their land. In doing so, these farmers can guarantee themselves a stable income. This usually occurs in the village within the town or the places with comparative advantages. The other choice the farmers have is to leave for the cities and work there, for the compensation fee for the land is little and there is no available plants nearby to offer them jobs. These farmer turn into a new type of rural workers who find themselves in an awkward situation where they are neither farmers nor urban residents. The dilemma of identity makes it difficult for these farmers when it comes to enjoying the benefits of social security, which would make their life even harder. In the paper, the author focuses on the rural-worker farmers who are having a tough life and vague identity and indefinite rights. They are becoming an important factor affecting the social stability in our country. It is urgent and significant to care about and study them and solve the issue of their social security. Given all this, the central and local governments have put forward some policies to help them, but the effects seem to be less than expected if we take into account of the current situation. The author introduces the basic conditions of Zhongyang in the paper, collects some data concerning farmers who has lost their land in Zhike Town of Zhongyang County, and points out the status quo of the social security of Zhongyang farmers. Then, the author analyze the causes leading to the plight the farmers of Zhongyang are in and finally proposes ways to handle the social security of farmers without land in our country by starting from the reality of Zhongyang and the basic conditions of our country. The author collected much literature and visited the farmers in the village, and thus made a profound research on the social security of farmers without land in Zhongyang and reached conclusions with some value.
