STS(science, technology, society) education has been carried out for almost ten years, however, the major obstacle of the implementation of STS education is the lack of qualified teachers, whose standard of knowledge, scientific literacy and teaching ability directly influence the elementary education and curriculum reform. So senior normal universities are supposed to take the responsibility to train qualified teachers. Thus they should adjust the curriculums; renew the education concept; reform the ways and means of teaching to cater to the needs of development of education. STS education is recognized as the most appropriate method in terms of scientific education, which shows prominent educational function in scientific literacy improvement, scientific values establishment, sense of social responsibility cultivation and decision making. On new demands to teachers from the physics curriculum reform in elementary education and to improve the scientific literacy of students major in physics at normal university, this thesis has education of STS and those students combined together, then coming up with new proposals to curriculum reform of those students.This thesis first discusses the development, connotation and characters, objective and significance of STS education, including the pattern, content and method. After understanding what STS is, from the current situation of public scientific quality and implementation of STS education in curriculum of reform of elementary education, the author analyses why we should have STS education and the reasons of failure of implementation of education. Then the author gives new demands to teachers for implementing the STS education. After that, to understand the cause further, the author makes a survey on the current situation of STS education and curriculum of students major in physics to analyze the problems in education of those students by investigation and literature researching. Through the thought of problems discovering—problems analyzing—problems solving, the author tries to combine the STS education and curriculum reform together. Therefore, after analyzing theoretical and feasibly and according to the trend of domestic and international curriculum reform of those students and STS education, the author put forward a program of curriculum reform of students major in physics at normal university which in consisted of curriculum objective, curriculum concept, curriculum structure, curriculum offering, curriculum content and illustration on teaching method.The penetration of the theory of STS education into those students gives great significance to the improvement of the students and their sense and ability to implement the STS education. Last, the author expects this thesis to be a reference for the normal university to have the STS education.
