This paper investigated the internal connection of reading-writing combination and innovative thinking based on the analysis on Chinese reading and writing teaching situation. The function, theoretic groundwork and existing conditions of cultivation of innovative thinking were studied. The results indicate that cultivation of innovative thinking is necessary and feasible by reading-writing combination teaching.In this paper, the cultivation of innovative thinking was analysed in American reading and writing teaching, which is good for the teaching of Chinese reading and writing. Hereby, the strategy of cultivation of innovative thinking was investigated by Chinese reading-writing teaching. The analysis indicates that cultivation of question thinking, emanative thinking and antidromic thinking are key to the cultivation of innovative thinking. And the interrelated teaching examples were discussed, which is beneficial to the teaching practice of reading-writing combination.
