The Research On Intervention Mechanism Of Impoverished Undergraduates' Psychological Poverty In Xinjiang

As college expansion in 1999, the proportion and quantity of impoverished undergraduates has increased in university campus. Xinjiang locating in west border area of China, has been a ghetto living a number of nationalities since ancient time. There are a lot of impoverished undergraduates, because of nationalities, regional and economical development in Xinjiang. Therefore, finding the psychological health problems of impoverished undergraduates and making them develop healthily is the essential guarantee for steady development, national unity, and frontier defence of Xinjiang.In oder to understand the mental health of impoverished undergraduates, we investigated university students respectively of 6 universities of Xinjiang The students were divided into impoverished group and non-impoverished group by the guideline including three elements, the income of the family in a rural area,the lowest living level, whether he or she took a state educational loans or not. This research used the form of Symptom Checklist 90 and questionnaire. The questionnaire used the random sampling principle to choose students. Impoverished students took a test of Symptom Checklist 90.Impoverished undergraduates have higher scores than the norm of Chinese university students in nine symptom factors. The men and women live impoverished have not statistics significance. Different nations have statistics significance in anxiety, crankiness, the average of sum scores. It also has obvious statistics significance in lunacy symptom factors. Different grades impoverished undergraduates have serious statistics significance in many factors, except physics symptom. Impoverished undergraduates have statistics significance in some symptom factors, especially they are from different major, place or circumstance.Impoverished undergraduates have psychological poverty, universities should intervene this mental health. Universities should set up a dynamic file, and measure their mental health, pay attention to psychological education, enhance the consciousness of getting rid of psychological poverty by impoverished undergraduates themselves. It's good for them to cultivate some good characters such as self-confidence, optimism, bravery.
