After universities in China began to expand enrollment in 1999, many of them blindly answered the call of"enrollment expansion"to started large-scale discipline construction, ignoring their distinguishing features only to pursue"big and complete"and focusing on"scope"rather than"depth". In order to make up for the sets of problems, like universities'improper positioning, inappropriate discipline distribution, weak teaching staff construction, insufficient financial inputs, non-optimized resource allocation, disconnection of personnel training and demand of social development, no service provision of scientific research results for society and so forth, which caused by the blind following, strengthening the discipline construction is absolutely a surefire solution. And so, even more, is for the ethnic universities and colleges. Therefore, how to strengthen discipline construction of ethnic universities and colleges with the purposes of educating more versatile talents who can well adapt to the social and economical development in ethnic region as well as promoting their core competitiveness has become an important theme of ethnic universities'reform and development, which is also a research subject urgently needed by them.Although characterized itself, discipline group construction in ethnic universities has something common with the general discipline construction. With decades'development, it has made some progresses, however, there're a series of problems left for way out. And there are a few deep studies involved in this field, hence this topic is of both significantly realistic and theoretical meaning. This thesis has analyzed the problems lying in the discipline group construction of ethnic universities on the basis of systematically summarizing the theories of discipline group constriction to choose an appropriate way to undertake discipline group construction of ethnic universities.This thesis can be divided into four parts, which has comprehensively studies on the discipline group construction of ethnic universities and colleges:Chapter I has thrown light on the significance of studying discipline group construction of ethnic universities and colleges. In this chapter, the notion of"discipline group"is defined in the foundation of summing up and framing the theories of the given literature. And the theoretical analysis of its form of organizational structure and its features has been made in this chapter. In this way, the goal and the line of this study is well crystallized.Chapter II concerns on the theoretical construction of discipline group construction of ethnic universities and colleges, which traces the emergence and the development tendency of discipline group. In this chapter, the advantages and defects of organization structure are analyzed to find the most suitable organization form for the discipline group development. In addition, it differentiates the characters of discipline, discipline group and the concepts of discipline group construction and ethnic universities and this chapter shows the meaning of discipline group as well as several couples of relationship which should be dealt with by the ethnic universities in the process of discipline group construction. Furthermore, this chapter discusses the guidelines and principles of discipline group construction, which follows the guiding ideology that the discipline group construction must be implemented on the base of discipline construction, be oriented by the social demands and revolve around the talents cultivation. The chapter summarize that the ethnic universities should keep to the principles to construct the discipline group of ethnic universities and to enhance the general level of ethnic universities. Those principles includes building up features, cooperation and coexistence, complementary advantages, perspectiveness of studying content, dynamics of discipline group construction and multidisciplinary penetrability.Chapter III is about the analysis of the existing condition of discipline construction of ethnic universities. Despite some achievement reached during the decades'development of discipline construction of ethnic universities, problems are still being there like inappropriate positioning of discipline development, unbalanced strongness of single discipline, deficiency of comprehensive strengths, improper distribution of disciplines, weakness of featured discipline construction, non-prominent predominance, defectiveness of overall discipline planning, poor teaching staff construction, insufficient financial inputs and so forth, which are mainly caused by the improper positioning of ethnic universities and the lack of the university leader's attention of discipline construction.Chapter IV mainly discusses how to construct discipline group of ethnic universities. And so the ethnic universities should follow the principles which include philosophy of schooling orientation, idea of coexistence, features discovery, demand guiding, dynamics of discipline and development step by step. By following the principles, ethnic universities build up the discipline group which is centered by ethnonymics, representing the distinguished features of ethnic universities. This chapter deals with the problems when discipline construction, therefore, it accordingly adhere to the goal of discipline group construction of ethnic universities to propose the suitable way of construction for them, and to make clear the major aims for orientating the discipline group. Ethnic universities should carefully think about and reasonably organize the discipline group construction to find out an appropriate structuring form; should be all-inclusive and strengthen cooperation to establish open academic teams; should scientifically manage them and define duties of their staff to found a core management system. In this way, ethnic universities finally can research into an applicable strategy for discipline group construction of ethnic universities and colleges.
