This fast developing digital-information era impels middle school students to be more information literate, which in turn makes information technology education more urgent. In response, related discussion among teachers and researchers goes further and deeper. By combining current study with everyday life, edutainment technology will help student to appreciate the pleasure and value of learning, and to keep good learning habits. Therefore, it is more suitable and competent in this demanding era.Based on literature review and analysis of characteristics of information technology in middle school courses, this paper presents preliminary explorations and discussions about the application of edutainment technology, focusing on the integration of edutainment with"guide-subject"pattern of teaching. The proposed methods can be used an effective teaching design pattern, thus influence both current learning and lifelong learning of students.Chapter 1 presents the background, current situation , and basic concepts of edutainment technology. Introduces the significance of this research, and teaching theory.In chapter 2, the integration of edutainment with guide-subject pattern of teaching is designed and discussed. As the intrinsic entertaining attributes of information technology, it can be smoothly embedded this pattern. Moreover, this chapter discusses each parts of this pattern in detail, especially for two branches of"Transmitting-Accepting"and"Inquiry".Chapter 3 first analyzes the subject and curriculum of information technology teaching in middle school. The next part is case studies of design processes of entertainment and guide-subject teaching pattern, for junior and senior high school respectively. According to the results of applications of designed case, edutainment technology has changed the learning attitudes and learning cognition of students, makes it much easier for them to apply learned knowledge to everyday life.Finally, chapter 4 presents the conclusions and proposed future research.
