The reform in experimental approach in middle school physics teaching is on the way in line with the reform of new teaching methods owing to the development of society. The status quo of experimental approach in physics teaching definitely influences physics teaching.Based on my own teaching experience , together with surveys of students and teachers, I have found some deep-rooted problems in physics teaching: students tend to lose interest in physics due to the fact that experiments do not go together well with classroom teaching. Another factor deflating students is that many schools do not have qualified facilities in their labs and as a result, inadequate emphasis is put on experiments.After studying some cases, I put forward here some means that may help improve the present situation. Firstly, More emphasis should be put on experiments; secondly, new experiments need to be designed in accordance with students understanding, which should be life-oriented; experiments should not be only restricted in labs. These proposals might contribute a little to the reform in experimental research in physics teaching.
