Case teaching, as a new method under the background of new curriculum, is widely used in middle school geography teaching.Case teaching method has its own origination and development. Its application has been mature in the field of foreign commerce, education, jurisprudence and medicine etc., but it is still at an elementary stage in the middle school teaching areas in China.Therefore, I select case teaching method in high school geographical teaching as a research topic. And based on the literature study, comparative analysis of documents, practical investigation method as well as the experimental method, besides personal view from the author, the paper illustrates case teaching application in geography teaching, gives an issue analysis and puts forward solutions to the problems so that can provide a reference for the geography teaching.Geography case teaching is a kind of new teaching method, which is selected and processed elaborately by teachers. It is based on teaching concepts, purpose, contents and students'physical and mental development characteristics of the new curriculum standards for typical cases'design and use. And in the process of teaching, students are brought a specific event situation so that their autonomic and inquiry learning ability could be aroused. Additionally, this new teaching method is benefit to explore geographical concepts, fundamentals and regular to solve the geographical problems, as well as to improve the ability in analyzing and overcoming the practical geography problems.The thesis includes six chapters as follows:In the first part, combining with research results in the field of geography teaching cases from abroad and home, the introduction advices the meaning of this topic. In Chapter One, it mainly makes an outline of Chinese geography new curriculum reform, geography teaching situation and students' learning state, thereby, the study topic put forward. What's more, it gives an explicit definition about connotation of the geography case teaching, study goal, procedure and approaches so that can guide practical research work.Chapter Two illustrates the main theoretic foundation and guidance from the application of geography case teaching in high school to enrich the theoretic knowledge of case teaching.According to examples, the next part talks about how to design geography case teaching and teaching application.And then, the thesis suggests a clear role position to teachers and students in the process of case teaching. Thus, case teaching could reach a better effect and class achievements could be improved.Chapter Five chooses specific experiment class and teacher through three study works to improve and perfect the application of geography case teaching, and then, making an evaluation and comment by comparing the experiment effects with other teaching method.In the last chapter, the thesis make some study conclusions about the application of geography case teaching in high school, including advantages, difficult ties and some suggestionsIn conclusion, aiming at how to carry out ideas and requirements put forward by new curriculum standard, the paper makes some researches to the method for promoting geography teaching study.
