Experience Of Social Donation Of Columbia University And Its Enlightenments To Our Country

With the consistent development of higher education, higher education runs in capital market and under market economy. The market economy provides many resources for higher education and also raises new challenges for it. With the popularity of higher education and increasing cost of higher education, we can't solve this problem only by depending on the government or tuition. So we must try more ways to raise money for higher education. Experiences of many universities in America prove that raising social donation is a very important way to get much money and make great contributions to universities. Columbia is the very representative example. This paper studies Columbia University's methods of raising, management and use of the social donation and try to draw on their successful experiences to improve the social donation system of highter education in our country.This paper expresses mainly from the following aspects:the first chapter is an introduction of this paper; the second chapter briefly introduce the achievements of social donation of Columbia University; the third chapter studies management of donation of Columbia University; the fourth chapter analyzes factors that influence Columbia University's donation; the fifth chapter shows some enlightenments after comparing problems of social donation in our country with successful experience of Columbia University. it is expected to enhance universities'social donation in our country.In order to solve the problem of lack of outlay in universities of our country, we can cultivate the social donation culture and the government should enhance legislative rules about how to improve the social donation. What's more, universities should enhance management for social donation.
