Since the reform of high school mathematics course, the mode of independent study has already transformed from education theory to education practice which is now widely adopted by mathematics teachers as teaching mode. Autonomous learning pays much attention to initiative construction of knowledge, aims at changing passive mechanical ways of learning in traditional mathematics teaching. In mathematics teaching practice, effective guide of teachers is the key to implementing autonomous learning. This essay aims at finding out and analyzing elements influencing implementation of initiative learning. To achieve this goal, Mr. Wu's class process is analyzed as a typical case using classroom observation and the interview method. Through such analysis, I hope valuable reference and enlightenment could be provided for autonomous learning practice in high school mathematics. This paper is mainly divided into four parts:The first part shows some general ideas of autonomous learning theory in the high school mathematics classroom teaching. The second part indicates mathematics teaching process of Mr. Wu, this part is mainly composed of the following several aspects:introduction of basic information of the research object, detailed description of Mr. Wu's mathematics classroom teaching process, and finally displays method of teaching adopted by Mr. Wu as guidance for the students' self-study.The third part focuses on analyzing success factors in Mr. Wu's teaching process, this part is mainly analyzed from two aspects-object and subject, subjective elements include student, teacher, and environment, students' interest and learning ability, the part of the teacher, the teacher's knowledge and ability, the objective factors include:content of course, teaching goal, school environment.Based on analysis of supplication and influence factors of Mr. Wu's classroom teaching, the fourth part comes to the conclusion that in order to successfully guide students' autonomous learning teachers have to achieve the following goals:teaching of proper methods of study, transferring their role in teaching process, using multi-media, paying more attention to non-intellectual factors, stimulating students' self-motivation, etc.
