Study On Project Management Of Zambia Chembe Bridge Project

The Construction of Chembe Bridge Across the Luapula River Project is located near the Chembe Port situated near the border between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Zambia. The Luapula River serves as part of the boundary between Zambia and the DRC. The Bridge is across the Luapula River and near the east war-torn areas of the DRC. The Bridge is320m long with enlarged foundation and round end-plate pier and consists of40m+48mx5+40m continuous pre-stressed box girder structure. The10.3-meter-wide approach is constructed with a double surface dressing. The Project is an important work for Overseas Company of China Railway the Seventh Group Co.. Ltd. in its Zambia market and serves as a very significant factor in enhancing the brand, the reputation, and the technical strength of the Company and has a significant positive impact in business development for the Company in Zambia.As the Project Manager, the Author, overcoming the language and cultural differences, is responsible for the overall coordination and management of the Project and should have an effective risk control for the Project. Multi-point automatic continuous pushing technology for large-tonnage box girder is difficult in the aspects of safety and quality management. The Author, by successful use of modern management concept, knowledge, and tolls progress, has a whole-process management for quality, safety, occupational healthy, source procurement, cost, and contract of the Project. Paying close attention to project management as a fundamental and having an optimal allocation of resources as an assurance, the Project team finishes the Project in time, achieves expected benefits, and is successful in achieving established objectives of the Project.●The Project has no security incidents and is accepted in its quality and handed over one-time. The cost is controllable and orderly.●The Project trained a group of young professionals in project management and accumulated a lot of project management experience and documents.●The Multi-point Automatic Continuous Pushing Technology for Large-tonnage Box Girder is awarded the first prize for scientific and technology progress of China Railway Seventh Group Co. Ltd.
