With the development of the national economy, the traffic volume grows rapidly. It’s soserious that the early damage of asphalt pavement caused by vehicle upsizing, overloadingand channelized traffic. The early damage of asphalt pavement is directly related to thepavement compaction degree. Though the application of new material has greatly improvedthe pavement function, unreasonable compaction method as the last link in the chain of theroad construction, will lead to early damage of the pavement, and then interference in theservice performance of pavement. This paper aims on providing compaction methods andmechanical equipment for new material pavement through the research on compactionmechanism, compaction properties, cooling regularity and compaction energy of newpavement materials, and then recommend a set of compaction method for asphalt pavement.Through the investigation of the new types of pavement mixture compaction method,this article summarizes conventional compaction methods and the mechanical assembly of thenew pavement, and put forward the problems and deficiencies of the current pavementcompaction method.Combining the rotary compaction curve obtained from the experiment,present the evaluation index of mixture compaction property,and analyze the changingdiscipline of compaction characteristics with the changes of the influencing factors. Study onchanging discipline of asphalt mixture temperature with time, and determine the effectivecompaction time of the asphalt mixture, provide a basis for determining the rolling speed andthe quantity of road roller. Through the compaction test of typical asphalt mixture, obtain therequired energy that can meet the compactness of asphalt mixture, and then provides a basisfor determining the compaction machine tonnage and rolled times from the energy equivalent.Through investigating the technical parameters of common compaction machine, calculatecompaction power that the roller can provide, definite the required road roller of newpavement according to the compaction equivalent principle.
