Spatial Of Characteristics Of Outdoor Activities In Residential Community For The Elderly

For the development of aging program in China,"the12th Five Years Plan" stated that,"To create a pension service system which is base on living, depends on community, supports on institution." Home care is the main mode of elderly now and future. So, in order to achieve sustainable living of the elderly, to design the space of outdoor activity in residential area, as an important component part of living space of the elderly, it is necessary to consider the activity characteristics and needs of either the self-care elderly or the device-aided elderly and the nursing-cared elderly.Focus on the characteristics of time and space to the activities of the elderly, this paper carried out an investigation in four different residential communities in Beijing. Through all-day observation, discuss the change of activity type and area by the change of season and investigation time, and comprehend the needs of different states of the elderly about the space of outdoor activities.It can provide a scientific basis for the sustainable use of the outdoor environment to a new residential area that making a study on spatial of characteristics of outdoor activities in a residential community for the elderly. Moreover, it can meet the demands of the elderly in their life, and achieve the sustainable living for the elderly. The most important is that this study is significant to complement the Code of Urban Residential Areas Planning Design and make the home care come true.
