In the Chinese teaching Vietnamese students in the intermediate and advancedlevels, we found that the problems which students acquire the Chinese fourcharacter idioms are more and outstanding. Based on interlanguage theory as aguide, we apply the contrastive analysis, error analysis and data statistical methodto make the error analysis which the Vietnamese students have made in theirlearning the idioms. The full text is divided into six parts.The first part is the introduction. We mainly introduce the research origin,research goal, the significance, the research methods, the theory and data sources.We also provide an overview of previous related researches.The second part is the error analysis. We analyze the form errors, semanticerrors, syntax errors and pragmatic errors of the idioms. Firstly, we summarize thefour kinds of the idiom acquisition errors in this paper. Then we get a variety oferror types and analyze the errors. Secondly we use the tables and charts to displaythe distribution of the errors. At last we sum the features of the idioms.The third part is the survey. Based on the second part, we investigate whetherstudents like the idioms, students’ learning methods, the necessities to learn theidioms, the influence of mother tongue and the influence of Chinese idioms.Besides, it also investigates whether students understand the meaning in thetextbooks, the rates of errors of the understanding the idioms and the sentencesmaking, the teaching methods of Chinese idioms. And we analyze the results of theinvestigation.The fourth part is the discussion of the reasons of errors. We discussgenerated reasons of the errors of the acquisition. They are that the influence of thenegative transfer of the mother tongue and Chinese, the teaching method and thelearning strategy, textbooks compilation and idioms dictionary compilation. The fifth part is the suggestions. Based on the above research we give somesuggestions about the idioms teaching, textbooks compilation and idiomsdictionary compilation.In the sixth part we sum up the whole paper.
