The thesis mainly discusses the influence of the target readers on translation methods from the approach of Skopos theory. The discussion is based on the Chinese version of a British novel Shopaholic and the Baby, which is translated by the author of this thesis. The first part of the essay briefly introduces what Skopos theory is and how it affects the reader scope. The readers are targeted by their gender, age, education, and reading approaches. In this case, the target readers are mainly female readers, and people who have received a little English education and are willing to learn more about English culture. In order to meet the requirements of the target readers, the novel is translated by following the principles of foreignizing and domesticating to introduce cultural differences and make it possible for the readers to understand without difficulties. The method of transliteration is used in translating names, places and brands that appear in this novel. In the translation, there are many so-called "hot" expressions are newly created or have become popular in recent years. They show the trends of the Internet era and the attitude of the Chinese netizen, and they are also accepted by people offline. The adoption of these expressions can help display the sense of humor and joy of the novel. In brief, the thesis shows that with target readers considered, translators should change methods when necessary.
