Chinese idiom is the short stereotyped idiomatic phrase in spoke language, mostly the verb-object phrase in three words. It enjoys high frequency in daily use, vivid and interesting, with more profound unique cultural connotation compared with the general words. Therefore, Chinese idiom has become the essential knowledge for those who take Chinese as the second language, which even is regarded as "the center of language learning" and "the key to idiomaticity"However, the author has found that nowadays in Thailand where Chinese education presents a raging fire development trend, most universities have yet not opened the Chinese idiom course, with few related teaching materials that can be developed. And the study of the Chinese idiom teaching is so weak in the whole Chinese teaching area of Thailand. Based on the on-the-spot investigation about course offered and teaching situation of the Chinese idiom teaching in Thailand university, the author aims to make the choice of words and the instructional design of the Chinese idiom teaching in Thailand university. This paper altogether can be divided into six parts, with main body four chapters, and prolegomenon, conclusion included. The main contents are as follows:Firstly, make an introduction about the background of the paper and put forward the subject; point out the research contents, the significance and its methods.Secondly, review the development history, teaching practice and related research of the Chinese idiom teaching both in China and in Thailand.Thirdly, study the choice of words of the Chinese idiom teaching in Thailand university, and establish the qualification of thesaurus. With the selection principles aid wird aapacity, the statistical analysis of the idiom teaching materials, the statistical analysis of the Peking CCL corpus(network edition), and the manual intervention of the choice of words, the paper ultimately determine127words that should be taught. Fourthly, make the instructional design of the Chinese iaiim teaahing in Thailand university under the guidance of the communicative teaching approach. Based on the contrastive linguistics theory, the paper makes the Chinese and Thai idioms comparative analysis in cognitive level, and divides those127idioms into three categories, then applies communicative teaching theory to organize teaching. And three teaching cases have been designed.Fifthly, compile the demonstration lesson and make suggestions for idiom textbook compiling and classroom teaching in Thailand university.Finally, summarize the whole thesis and research achievements and shortcomings are analyzed and elaborated.
