With the development of economy in the world, the communication is frequent increasingly between countries. Except for the communication of politics and economy, culture plays a very important part in the communication between the countries. Every year, China sends a large number of scholars, students aboard and technical personnel to go abroad and meanwhile attracts a lot of foreigners, among whom the prep students is a huge part.The prep students have their own traits, so the achievement of studying students overseas in China is not completely fit for prep students. The author takes prep students as the research object, and adopts the questionnaire-social culture adaptation scale, satisfaction with life scale and attitude to the mother culture and Chinese culture scale, which contribute to the development of cross-cultural adaptation of prep students. The paper is divided into four chapters:1. In the first chapter of thesis, the progress of the study situation of cross-cultural adaptation was reviewed, and the contents and significance of the thesis was also introduced.2. In the second chapter of thesis, the theoretical basis is stated, which is divided into the development of theory of cross-cultural adaptation and major factors to affect cross-cultural adaptation ability.3. In the third chapter of thesis, with the prep students in Shandong University as the subjects, as well as questionnaire as the research method, the writer makes4questionnaires, including personal basic information, social culture adaptation scale, satisfaction with life scale and attitude to the mother culture and Chinese culture scale. What’s more, the writer comes up with3research questions:1) what kinds of problems occur to the prep students in China? Is there individual difference?2) Whether there is the correlation analysis between social culture adaptation and satisfaction with life of pre students in China?3) What kinds of strategies do the prep students mainly adapt in China? Is there individual difference?Statistical product and service solutions (SPSS) and Excel are applied in an analysis of the questionnaires. The age, gender and country of subjects are described in the questionnaire1; the validity of questionnaire2-4is ok; then the analysis of variance (ANOVA), correlation analysis are used in the thesis.4. In the last chapter of thesis, based on the analysis of the questionnaires, some suggestions for further study are given. Four conclusions are as follows:1) the situation of cross-cultural adaptation of prep students is good.2) Most prep students in China is adapted with the life in China, and there is the difference in gender of prep students and no difference in country and age3) the correlation is high between social culture adaptation and satisfaction with life4) most prep students emphasis on integration, then separation and assimilation,the last one is marginalization. There is no difference in age, gender and country.
