With Chinese Speaking Class as a special target programs separated from the teaching Chinese as a foreign language, more and more scholars are concerned about preparation and research of oral teaching materials closely related to the oral teaching.Into the21st century, all kinds of oral teaching materials have sprung up, it has achieved fruitful results in a staggering number of more than140species just over ten years. Intermediate Oral textbooks writing specifically for students with some Chinese-based naturally has a place. Among such an array of intermediate oral teaching materials, many of them are innovative and featuring high-quality materials. However, how to choose a set of "teachers teaching easily, students learning easily" teaching materials, is the troubled problem which the teachers and students are generally concerned about,and the scholars need to study.This paper chooses two materials-Intermediate Spoken Chinese (improve articles)and Spoken Chinese (intermediate articles) as the research objects, which reflect the idea of the communicative approach, after being revised and printed many times, achieved better use of the effect. They are based on the theories about the principles of a communicative approach and foreign language teaching materials to prepare. This article draws on scholars second language textbook evaluation mode and builds the Intermediate Spoken Chinese textbook evaluation mode based on the communicative approach to study the two materials.In terms of the content of the text, combine with the constitutive principles of the communicative approach, we investigate the usefulness of the two materials from the three aspects as the choice of the communicative function, the authenticity of the communication corpus and the authenticity of the communication scene.We research the interesting of the two materials during the choice of topics and genre selections. We study the direction of the two materials on the two aspects both lesson features from the text reflects and the key and difficult.In practice settings, we investigate the science of the materials from the three aspects as the amount of problems and the problem classes, the subjects arrangement, the timeliness of the subject content. We study the applicability of the two books through the social degree of the exercises, the degree of integration with the real-life and the operability.We also investigate the interesting from the forms and the contents of their exercises. And we also investigate the degree of integration with the theory of communicative approach.By an empirical study of the two materials, we find that despite there are still some problems in the preparation of the details among the "intermediate", but it is able to integrate theory with practice from the content of the text to the practice settings, it can do what the edit subject has said, and has done quite reasonable. It well reflects the constitute principles of the communicative approach and the principles of compilation of teaching materials such as usefulness, interesting, direction and science. Although there are some strong points in the "crash", but in many respects it can not well reflect the concepts of communicative approach as it has claimed, and also can not reflect the basic principles of the compilation of teaching materials. So it is contrary to the subject for the preparation of materials. It can not improve the short-term Intermediate oral communicative competence of students in China effectively. Therefore, the same as the Intermediate Spoken Chinese teaching materials based on the communicative approach,"Intermediate" is better than "crash.From the research of the two materials, we also propose some revelations for Intermediate Spoken Chinese materials based on the communicative approach. We hope it can provide some practical and valuable references for the preparation of Intermediate Oral textbook writers and users.
